The deposit serves three functions for the host:
- Gives you an impression of your guests: guests who accept to pay a deposit show that they are committed to keeping your home in a satisfactory state. The deposit could dissuade guests who are not confident in making that commitment.
- Acts an incentive for your guests to respect your home: your guests will have another additional reason to respect your home - for fear of losing their deposit.
- It acts as a compensation: if you, unfortunately, a problem with your home after the exchange, the deposit can be used to pay for at least some of the damage caused.
Of these three functions, the first is by far the most important as this means that you are inviting guests who are not ill-intentioned to your home.
Following this, if there is ever a problem with the exchange, it will be easier to arrange a resolution with members who have good intentions.
The deposit is managed by GuesttoGuest who acts as a trusted intermediary when necessary.
